Well maybe not all of those popular home features….Steve Kerch Yahoo Market Watch says the following home features are on the way out in 2012. I think he’s right for the most part home buyers are not interested in mcMansions with two stories everywhere.* Just like palladian windows (thankfully) dog showers, whirlpool tubs and such are a thing of the DISTANT past today’s home buyer – especially in Charlotte is looking for value, practicality sensible architecture and elegant design. Think Apple design. *yes I’ve showed homes with two story master bathrooms and closets.
There are two features on Steve’s list I would NOT kiss goodbye quite yet…outdoor fireplaces / kitchens and sunrooms…not in Charlotte anyway

- Media Room
- Two-Story Foyer
- Master-Planned Developments
- Luxury Master Bathrooms
- Formal Living Room
- Whirlpool Tubs
Outdoor firepits are wonderful here where outdoor living extends a full ten months really (we were on Sunset Beach NC this New Years in short sleeves) Just another reason if you live north of Virginia, to keep those relocation plans active – at the first spark of a housing market turnaround the Charlotte home market is going to explode!
I have yet to hear once Charlottean say “As soon as this market improves I’m moving out of Charlotte” on the contrary we hear clients n New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, California, Florida you name it are saying just the opposite “as soon as things improve I’m coming to Charlotte – find me a house with a firepit….cause I’m spending New Years 2013 outside by my firepit just South of SouthPark.”
