Our friend, Savvy+CO colleague and awesome blogger has outdone me again! Debe Maxwell has a great post on selling your home in winter. Yes Charlotte does have a winter and while we don’t have much snow* even Charlotte can get a little drab and dreary!

Here are two of Debe’s winter tips…(visit HipHoods.com for the other three!)

  • Turn up the light. Keep curtains and blinds open during the day. Turn on your lights, both inside and out, at night. Put your lights on timers if you wont be home until after dark. Use motion detectors to light up in the evening when a potential buyer approaches your doorstep.
  • Keep it cozy. You want your home to be warm so people can comfortably take their time viewing your Charlotte real estate. Saving money on heating costs isnt worth it if it means freezing out your potential buyers.

*But if we do get snow ~ if you can safely navigate Charlotte’s snowy streets ~ you ought to bundle up, grab a cup of hot chocolate and take a stroll to see how beautiful our classic neighborhoods look blanketed in snow: Myers Park’s majestic oak trees, Cotswold’s cozy brick ranches and Dilworth’s bungalows And if you’re in Dilworth East Boulevard is great place to stroll – make sure you duck in Paper Skyscraper Charlotte’s coolest gift store to see what’s new…bet they’ll have some hot cider brewing!
